As always, we’re closing our gates for the whole of August to give the fishery a proper rest — no lines in the water, no boots on the bank, just time for the lake and the fish to recover from the summer season. We’ll be back open from 1st September, and we wanted to give everyone a quick heads-up on what to expect when we do.
What we’re doing during the closure
August is when we get stuck into the jobs that are hard to do with anglers around: bank maintenance, swim clearance, boat servicing, and giving the fish stock a genuine break from any fishing pressure. It’s a small window each year, but it makes a real difference to water quality and fish condition heading into autumn.
What autumn fishing looks like at Felix
Once we reopen, autumn is one of our favourite times on the lake. Cooler water temperatures mean the trout feed harder and fight better, and the bank fishing in particular tends to fish very well right through September and October. If you haven’t fished with us in the cooler months before, it’s well worth the visit — noticeably different sport to the height of summer.
Booking in for September
Day tickets and season tickets will be available as normal from reopening day. If you’re planning a visit for the first week back, we’d recommend giving us a call or dropping an email ahead of time, as early September tends to be popular.
